urban chicken coop

So after a year of wanting we finally made the chicken coop happen.
It's in my backyard in the city limits of charlotte. It's awesome. We have co-built it with our good friends. We share 9 chickens all hens no roosters. We plan on getting some "bitty's" this spring to make sure that we still have eggs in the years to come.
We've had them for almost a month, and they are just now this week beginning to lay eggs like we had hoped.Yesterday we got 7 eggs, which is the most ever in one day. It's so crazy to go out there and see eggs in the nest!! I'll have to take a picture  next time i think about it.
Our chickens are free to roam around the backyard and forage, but they are also given a mixture of laying mash and grains. They are also given fresh veggie scraps(leftover from cooking or juicing etc)Oh and plus they  have available in separate bowls....grit for their digestion and oyster shells for added calcium.Plus they have found the spot where i composted organic scraps before i had chickens....tons of worms in there. These are some really freakin happy birds.I will also sneak in some superfood supplements when i think of it...ie.... Peruvian maca root and bee pollen...........
Goats are next....well,after some ducks and some peacocks and maybe some quail.....hehe
